The melody of this tune disguises a descending G major scale. So that means the chord progression can be similar to the B part progression of Whiskey before Breakfast. It’s also ripe with opportunities to substitute! You’ll create LOTS of variations on your melody, with endless permutation possibilities. Thanks to fiddler and educator Matt Glaser for inspiring this lesson. Matt runs the American Roots Program at Berklee College of Music and has many publications dedicated to teaching.
